Write Your Message Template
Step 2 is where you create your message template. You'll write the email structure and insert variables that get replaced with real data or AI-generated content.
The Template Editor
The editor has two parts:
- Subject line — Your email subject with optional variables
- Body — The main message content
Write your message as you normally would, then insert variables where you want personalization.
Two Types of Variables
Static Variables {FirstName}
These pull data directly from your contacts:
{FirstName},{LastName},{FullName}{Company},{JobTitle}{Email},{LinkedInURL}
Use the toolbar buttons to insert these quickly.
AI Variables {{variable_name}}
These are generated by AI using the signal context. The default template includes {{icebreaker}} as a starting point, but you can create any AI variable with your own names:
{{icebreaker}}— Personalized hook referencing the signal{{value_prop}}— How your solution helps them{{cta}}— Soft call-to-action{{ps}}— P.S. line with another angle
Create custom variables by typing {{your_variable_name}} anywhere in your template. Each variable gets its own configuration for instructions and length.
Example Template
Subject: Quick question for {FirstName}
Hi {FirstName},
{{icebreaker}}
At [Your Company], we help teams like {Company} {{value_prop}}.
{{cta}}
Best,
[Your name]
Changes auto-save as you type. You won't lose your work if you navigate away.
