Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Signado — how it works, what it costs, and how it fits your sales stack.

Understanding Signal-Based Outreach

What is signal-based outreach?

Signal-based outreach means reaching out to prospects only when a real business event — like a new hire, funding round, or leadership change — indicates they may be in a buying cycle. Instead of sending generic cold emails to a static list, you send personalized messages that reference what is actually happening at their company.

What buying signals does Signado detect?

We currently monitor 7 buying signal types: hiring activity, funding rounds, company news, product launches, leadership changes, executive linkedin activity, and partnership announcements. Each signal is scored by relevance and recency. Our signal library evolves over time. If you need a specific signal type, reach out and we can discuss adding it.

How does monitoring work?

Signado has two monitoring lists: Priority (checked daily) and Watchlist (checked weekly). You decide which accounts go where based on your outreach priorities, and you can move contacts between lists anytime. If no signals are detected, we keep monitoring — no signal means no forced outreach, and that's the point.

How does Signado personalize outreach?

Messages reference specific real events. If a company just hired a VP Sales, the message mentions that hire by name. If they raised a Series B, the message references the funding round. This is not generic "I noticed your company is growing" personalization — it is specific, timely, and grounded in facts.

Getting Started

Do I need Apollo or Instantly to use Signado?

No. Signado is not a sending tool or a contact database — it works alongside your existing stack. Import contacts from any source (Apollo, Clay, LinkedIn, CSV). Export campaigns to any email tool (Instantly, Smartlead, Lemlist). We handle signal monitoring and personalization. You handle sending.

Can I use Signado without Apollo?

Yes. Signado works with any contact list — Apollo, LinkedIn exports, CSV files, or CRM exports. You can also use Signado's built-in scrapers to pull contacts from LinkedIn post reactions, LinkedIn comments, or Google Maps business listings. Apollo is not required.

What if I don't have a contact list yet?

No problem. Signado includes built-in scrapers to build your list from scratch. Scrape LinkedIn post reactions, comments, or Google Maps businesses directly into your account. No external tools needed.

Do I need technical skills to set this up?

No. Upload a CSV or use the built-in scrapers to build a list, activate monitoring, and Signado handles the rest. Most users are fully set up in under 15 minutes.

How do I get the best out of monitoring?

Add LinkedIn profile URLs to your contacts. Signado monitors executive activity (posts, comments) as a buying signal. Without a LinkedIn URL, we can still track company-level signals like funding, hiring, and news, but you'll miss the personal engagement signals.

How fast will I see results?

First signals typically appear within 24–48 hours of activating monitoring. From there, you can generate personalized outreach messages immediately based on the events Signado detects.

What if I only have 10 target accounts?

That's fine for testing. The free plan covers up to 60 contacts and 9 monitored companies — enough to see real signals on your accounts before committing to a paid plan.

What happens if no signals are found for my accounts?

Signado keeps monitoring. No signal means no forced outreach — and that's the point. You only reach out when there's a genuine reason to, which is exactly what makes signal-based outreach effective.

How Signado Compares

How is Signado different from Apollo or ZoomInfo?

Apollo and ZoomInfo provide contact data — who to reach. Clay handles data enrichment. Signado adds the timing layer — when to reach out and what to say. Signado works alongside your existing tools, not instead of them.

Why use Signado instead of doing this manually?

You could check LinkedIn, Crunchbase, and Google News every day for each account. But that takes 2+ hours daily for 50 accounts. Signado automates the monitoring, scores intent, and drafts personalized messages so you spend time selling, not researching.

Does Signado replace Apollo?

No. Apollo is a contact database for finding who to reach. Signado is a signal intelligence layer for knowing when to reach out and what to say. Most users keep Apollo for contact sourcing and add Signado for timing.

Does Signado replace Clay?

No. Clay is a data enrichment platform. Signado is a signal intelligence platform. They handle different layers of the sales stack. Use Clay to enrich your contacts with accurate data. Use Signado to detect when those contacts' companies show buying signals.

How is Signado different from Apollo's buyer intent signals?

Apollo's intent feature tracks anonymous website browsing behavior — which companies visited your site. Signado monitors verified public business events: a specific funding round amount, a named executive hire, a job posting in a specific department. Intent signals indicate curiosity. Buying signals indicate organizational readiness to purchase.

Can't I build signal detection in Clay instead of using Signado?

You can. Clay's workflow builder is flexible enough to configure some signal detection. But each signal type requires a separate workflow, separate API configuration, separate scoring logic, and ongoing maintenance. Signado monitors 7 signal types out of the box with zero setup.

Using Signado with Other Tools

How do I get my Apollo contacts into Signado?

Export your Apollo list as CSV. Upload it to Signado. The platform automatically extracts every unique company from your contacts and begins monitoring for buying signals.

How do enriched Clay contacts work in Signado?

Export your Clay table as CSV and upload to Signado. All custom fields from Clay enrichment are preserved and available for AI outreach personalization.

What tools can I export Signado messages to?

CSV, Lemlist, Smartlead, and Instantly. You can also copy messages directly for use in any email platform.

What if I already have Clay workflows for signal detection?

You can keep them or let Signado handle signal detection while you focus Clay on enrichment. Many teams find that removing signal workflows from Clay simplifies their stack and reduces maintenance overhead.

Is Signado for non-technical users?

Yes. Signado requires no coding, no API configuration, and no workflow building. Upload a CSV, set monitoring priorities, and signal detection starts automatically.

How much time does Signado save compared to building signals in Clay?

Signal detection workflows in Clay typically take weeks to design, test, and refine — plus ongoing maintenance. Signado activates signal monitoring in minutes with no maintenance required.

How quickly are signals detected?

Priority companies are monitored daily. Watchlist companies are monitored weekly. When a signal is detected, it's scored and available immediately with an AI-generated outreach message.
